December Drabble 1/50
"Like this," Eowyn says, and adjusts her daughter's pudgy fingers gently on the hilt of the wooden sword. The girl takes a wild swing, and only Eowyn's reflexes save her from a very small bruise on the arm.
"She certainly has a warrior's heart." She hears worry buried somewhere in Faramir's amusement.
"I hope she only ever knows peace," Eowyn says, and blocks another swing with one gentle hand. Here, in the garden of their house in Ithilien, it is easy to believe that dream could be possible. "But if she ever needs to fight, my daughter will be ready."
